Product

RevitalPro is an iPad-based resuscitation documentation system designed for use during in-hospital cardiac arrest ("Code Blue") events. It replaces paper charting with guided, real-time digital documentation — capturing every intervention, medication, and timestamp automatically.

RevitalPro also provides live ACLS-aligned guidance, including automated timers for CPR cycles, epinephrine intervals, and defibrillation reminders, helping teams stay on protocol during high-stress events.

RevitalPro is designed exclusively for Apple iPad running iOS. It is not available on Android, Windows, or other platforms.

The app is optimized for the standard iPad form factor and supports AirPlay broadcast to external monitors or TVs for team-wide situational awareness during a code.

Yes. RevitalPro stores all clinical event data encrypted on the iPad device. An internet connection is not required during a code event.

Internet connectivity is only needed for certain functions such as emailing records, EHR transfer, or software updates.

Yes. RevitalPro includes both adult and pediatric modules, each with age- and weight-appropriate medication dosing, equipment size recommendations, and defibrillation/cardioversion joule settings aligned with published ALS guidelines.

Yes. In addition to in-hospital cardiac arrest, RevitalPro is used for:

  • Rapid Response Team (RRT) events
  • Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest handoff documentation
  • AMA (Against Medical Advice) documentation — for patients who refuse treatment in the ED, lobby, or elsewhere in the facility
  • Mock code training and simulation exercises

Clinical

RevitalPro provides ACLS-aligned point-of-care alerts and timers, including:

  • Alert when CPR is paused for more than 10 seconds
  • Defibrillation reminder every 2 minutes if indicated
  • Epinephrine reminders at 3 minutes and 5 minutes
  • Prompt to switch CPR providers every 2 minutes
  • Prompt to obtain blood pressure and heart rate at each rhythm check
  • Prompt to sync shock before cardioversion
  • Prompt to confirm endotracheal tube placement
  • Review of 6H's and 6T's for reversible causes of arrest
  • Weight-based medication dose recommendations

RevitalPro is a documentation and guidance support tool — all clinical decisions remain the responsibility of qualified healthcare professionals.

Yes. RevitalPro supports Apple AirPlay, allowing the live code screen to be broadcast to any compatible monitor or TV in the resuscitation room. This gives the entire team shared situational awareness — everyone can see ordered vs. completed tasks in real time.

After the event, the recorder can broadcast the patient record or QI record to the room during debriefing.

RevitalPro generates three outputs immediately after a code ends:

  • Emergency Response Patient Record — a complete, color-coded timeline of every intervention with precise timestamps
  • Quality Improvement (QI) Record — granular team performance data including breaks in CPR, ordered vs. completed items, time to first shock, and time to first epinephrine
  • Code Blue IQ analytics — interactive dashboards aggregating performance data across events, units, and providers

Records can be printed, emailed to authorized personnel, or transferred directly to your EHR.

Implementation & Training

A typical evaluation is 2–4 weeks and follows these steps:

  • We agree on evaluation metrics with your executive sponsor or committee
  • Format Health helps analyze your 5–10 most recent paper code records to establish a baseline
  • RevitalPro is used during at least 3–5 mock code simulations with trained users
  • We review results together against the agreed metrics

If RevitalPro is used during actual live events, IT security approval may be required, which can extend the timeline.

Training is designed to fit your organization's existing code blue workflow:

  • Format Health trains 1–3 "master trainers" from your organization via live Zoom or Microsoft Teams sessions
  • Master trainers then conduct mock codes and tabletop exercises with your designated code blue recorders
  • Because RevitalPro is designed to be intuitive, most organizations achieve proficiency quickly

Ongoing support is available from the Format Health team throughout implementation.

Yes. A phased approach is fully supported:

  • Phase 1: Print records generated by RevitalPro and scan into the EHR — your team immediately benefits from guidance during codes
  • Phase 2: Email records to authorized personnel (requires IT security approval)
  • Phase 3: Full EHR integration with Epic, Cerner, MEDITECH, or others

This approach works well if your hospital is mid-budget-cycle or planning an EHR change.

Technical

RevitalPro facilitates direct transfer of event records to major EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, and MEDITECH, as well as others. Integration specifics depend on your organization's IT environment and will be discussed during onboarding.

Clinical event data is stored in an encrypted database on the iPad device using iOS hardware encryption. Data does not leave the device until explicitly exported by an authorized administrator.

Administrators can delete stored codes from the device at any time via Administrator Settings.

For the initial evaluation using mock codes, IT involvement is typically not required. RevitalPro runs as a standalone iOS app on your iPad.

IT and security review is required if you plan to: use RevitalPro during live patient events on your hospital network, enable email transfer of records, or proceed with EHR integration.

Compliance & Security

Yes. RevitalPro is designed to support HIPAA-compliant workflows. Format Health operates as a Business Associate under HIPAA and executes a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with each healthcare organization prior to processing Protected Health Information (PHI).

Key safeguards include iOS hardware encryption for data at rest, TLS encryption for data in transit, and role-based access controls.

Yes. RevitalPro facilitates automated submission to the American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines-Resuscitation (GWTG-R) registry, reducing manual data entry and improving submission accuracy for national quality improvement programs.

Yes. RevitalPro's clinical alerts, timers, medication prompts, and documentation workflow are designed to support adherence to American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) guidelines and Advanced Life Support (ALS) protocols.

Format Health was founded in collaboration with UW Medicine, the American Heart Association, and The Joint Commission recognize RevitalPro as a compliant solution.
